Appearance
Long body. Snout relatively short. Mouth in front of eyes. Spiracles below eyes. Both dorsal fins are of same size and far posterior on tail. Origin of first dorsal fin over or slightly behind the insertion of the pectoral fins. Anal fin ends right in front of caudal fin. Pectoral and pelvic fins thick.
Coloration
Large and small spots are scattered over entire body. Small black spots behind the gill slits. No large white spots, no dark crossbands on ventral surface of tail.
Distribution
Western South Pacific: Indonesia, Papua New Guinea.
Biology
Bottom-living shark. Very little known.
Diet
Feeds most likely on invertebrates.
Size
Maximum size at least 46 cm.
Reproduction
Unknown, most likely oviparous (egg laying).
Similar Species
Other species of this group have a similar appearance and taxonomic features have to be used to clearly distinguish among them.
