Shark Database update to Red List data v. 2024-2

The latest update of the IUCN Red List has been integrated into the Shark Database. It now contains 548 shark species and little taxonomic changes:

  1. Three new shark species: Painted Hornshark (Heterodontus marshallae), Lea's Angel (Squatina leae) und Rauhrücken-Borstenhai (Dichichthys satoi).
  2. The Largespine Velvet dogfish (Centroscymnus macracanthus) was assigned to the genus Scymnodon and its scientific name is now Scymnodon macracanthus.
  3. 9 species have been re-evaluated by the IUCN since version 2024-1.
